For the next couple of weeks, we’ll be sharing some background on our staff so you can get to know them a little bit better! This week, we are starting with our new Sales Manager, Courtney Gemmett
What led you to this career?
I’ve been in the events industry for 7 years! I began with athletic events in college and after graduation – moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where I worked for the Tulsa Drillers (the Double-A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) and Tulsa Roughnecks FC (a United Soccer League Team), as the Special Events Manager while also working in our sales and marketing department. On game days, I was in charge of the suite level – working with our corporate partners. On non-game days I planned holiday parties, happy hours, luncheons, 5K races and other various events at our 6,000+ person stadium. After working in Tulsa, I decided to move back to NY and wanted to begin focusing solely on event planning. I’m thankful for Seasons Catering for allowing me the opportunity to do so!
What’s your favorite part about a wedding or social event?
I love the to see the bride and groom or any guest having a good time! We always strive to make each and every event the best and to ultimately make the hosts and guests happy. We put a lot of effort into our events, so to see that come to fruition and to know we’ve help made that impact on them is such a rewarding feeling.
What is something you’re wanting to add to an event or wedding?
I’m dying to host a pizza wedding! Pizza is one of my favorite foods and when I get married, I want to have a bunch of different types of pizzas. I have tons of ideas on what I’d like to do so I’d love to find another bride and groom who is looking to do so too!
What is your favorite quote?
“She believed she could, so she did” – I’ve always felt I can be successful at anything I put my mind to. This quote has helped me always remember that. I put it on my college graduation cap and it’s currently on the wall above my bed.
What was the best concert you attended?
Oh thats tough! My two favorite artists are Thomas Rhett and the Jonas Brothers – so I think it’d be a tie between the first Thomas Rhett concert I saw and then when I went to see the Jonas Brothers in Hershey Park this past summer!
What is your favorite family tradition?
Family is SUPER important to me. I’m thankful to be very close with my family, especially my cousins! Some of the best memories we have is getting together for a cookout and being at the lake.
Where is your favorite place to travel?
I LOVE to travel! Boston is probably my favorite city to visit. However, I also love to go back to Tulsa to visit or go to the beach or anywhere warm! Currently I’m itching to go to California – I guess you could send me almost anywhere and I’d be happy!
Are you a sports fan? What are your favorite teams?
I’m a huge sports fan! I like to say that I was born in the wrong state and should be from Massachusetts. My dad raised me as a Red Sox and Patriots fan so I love spending a Sunday with him watching all of the NFL games on.
What are your top 3 favorite podcasts/books?
I’m almost always listening to a podcast if my headphones are in. I love true crime and reality television so my favorite podcasts are My Favorite Murder, Crime Junkie and Scrubbing In with Becca Tilley and Tanya Rad.
Where would you choose to live: by the ocean, in the mountains, in the woods or in the city?
Definitely by the ocean! The calmness of the water and being able to be on the beach is so relaxing to me.
