The First Five Steps to Planning a Wedding

Congratulations on your engagement! This is such an exciting time and there are so many things to start thinking about while you plan your special day. From music, to food, to venues and guest lists – we understand it can be overwhelming! We’re here to help you figure out the first five steps to planning a wedding.

Step 1: Announce It!

Spread the news! You’re so excited to announce your engagement to all of your friends and family.  If you’re considering throwing an engagement party – now is the time!

Step 2: Choose a Date

Also – you should start to think about when or what time of year you want to get married. Typically, venues are booked a year or more in advance for weddings. If you have your heart set on a date, you’ll want to begin searching for a venue fairly quickly. Some things to take into consideration when choosing your date are:

  • Dates that are symbolic to you
  • What season it will be
  • Holidays surrounding that time.
  • Ask your important guests if there are dates that may not work for them

Step 3: Start a Guest List

Of course you want all of your friends and family to be in attendance but that can be hard! Budgets can put a constraint on this unfortunately. Before you begin looking for a venue, it’s smart to have a rough draft of how many guests you’re looking to have. That will help you figure out how small or large of a venue you need!

Step 4: Creating a Budget

This isn’t the most exciting part of wedding planning, but it’s important to figure out the financial information. There are a lot of details to a wedding – take into consideration which ones are the most important. From there, you can create a budget of how much you want to spend on all of the different aspects of your wedding.

Step 5: Enjoy

Don’t forget to enjoy your engagement! Enjoy this time with your fiancé, your friends and family – and get excited about the next steps in your wedding day!
